Landscape and Garden:
  If preferred, remove new growth or �candles' from pines, firs, and other conifers to prune back or promote compact growth (can also be done in July)
  Check landscape for insects and disease. Treat accordingly
  Apply acid fertilizer to acid-loving plants
  Prune roses after blooms have faded
  Irrigate plants deeply twice a week during hot, dry weather
  Stake tall plants as needed
